Red Sox Select Silvino Bracho – MLB Trade Rumors

The Red Sox announced that they chose the dorm Silvino Bracho in the Major League roster. Valid Conor Sebold He was selected to Triple-A Worcester in a similar move. Boston had a job vacancy on the 40-man list after placing it Garen Duran And the tanner hook On the banned list yesterday.

Bracho is heading to the major leagues for the first time in two years. The right-handed appeared alone for the Diamondbacks during the shortened 2020 campaign, then spent the whole last season at the top of the Giants system. Bracho missed the entire 2019 campaign rehab from Tommy John’s surgery, so he hasn’t scored meaningful MLB time since 2018.

Bracho, a Venezuelan native, started with Arizona back in 2015. He threw 12 1/3 of two-ball innings during his first season, but he followed that up with a tough pair of years. Bracho rebounded to score 3.19 ERA with a solid strike rate of 26.4% across 31 rounds in 2018, but Tommy John’s subsequent action put his career off track. His speed was low during his only MLB outing in 2020, and the D-Backs knocked him off their roster at the end of that season.

After his year in the San Francisco organization didn’t result in a major league call, Bracho entered with Boston on a minor league deal in February. He spent the season with Worcester, working on a 3.16 ERA across 31 1/3 frames. This is strong enough to prevent running, but Bracho’s strike and walk rates (29.3% and 3.3%, respectively) were absolutely excellent. His impressive display against under-hitters at the top earns him an MLB call, although it remains to be seen how long he will remain on the roster.

As was the case with the call-up yesterday joller sanchezSox did not indicate whether Bracho was selected as a specific replacement for COVID-19. Players with this designation – which can only be granted by the Commissioner’s office – occupy temporary places on the roster and can be returned to minor leagues without being exempted or selected.

If Bracho is a temporary replacement, he will presumably return to Worcester at the end of the current Sox series in Toronto, when Doran and Hook join the team. If not, he’ll have to stick with the active roster or set him for assignment and be exposed to trades or waivers, since he’s outside the minor league option years.
