WBA, WBO Junior Middleweight Champion Kali Reis secures role in Season 4 of HBO’s ‘True Detective’ – ESPN

WBA and WBO Middleweight Champion Kaley Reese is headed back to Hollywood, where she stars in Season 4 of “True Detective” on HBO opposite two-time Academy Award winner Jodie Foster.

The cable network has announced the fourth season of the show, which will be officially called “True Detective: Night Country” and will be filmed in Iceland.

Reese will play Detective Evangeline Navarro alongside Detective Foster Liz Danvers as they investigate the disappearance of six men in Ennis, Alaska.

“True Detective” is a crime anthology series that was nominated for seven Emmy Awards in its first season, when Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey were lead actors. Harrelson and McConaughey are both executive producers on the show. Issa Lopez is a writer, director, and exhibitor, and Barry Jenkins, who directed and wrote the Academy Award-winning film Moonlight, is also an executive producer.

This is another big role for Reese, who made her acting debut in the 2021 independent film “Catch the Fair One,” a story she helped write and develop. Catch the Fair One won the Audience Award at the Tribeca Film Festival, and Reis was nominated for Best Lady at the Independent Spirit Awards.

The 35-year-old Reese (19-7-1, 5 KOs) last fought on November 19, 2021, when she defeated Jessica Camara by split decision to win the WBO title and retain the WBA title. Reese initially won the WBA title on November 6, 2020, when she defeated Candy White by unanimous decision.

Reiss won her past six fights after losing to Cecilia Braikos by unanimous decision for the undisputed welterweight title in 2018. Reiss has been boxing professionally since 2008.
